Our core business activity is the manufacture of aerospace components; however, our mission is delivering the quality and service that the aerospace industry deserves. For this reason, our capabilities (in total or in part) are always available to our customers.
The Davis team has supported customers with design manufacturability studies, 3rd party inspection, digitization of paper based designs, inventory optimization models and related financing, manufacturing operation acquisition, partnering on industry standardization with engineering / registrar bodies and much more. In the end, our skills and knowledge are made available to our customer in any way that supports their success.
An aerospace partner, not just a supplier
A customer located in the US was in need of a quick turn pre- and post-wear testing of a cockpit mechanical component. The requirements were beyond their inspection capability at that site and they needed a 3rd party (i.e., not the manufacturer of the component itself) to perform the inspection. In this case Davis Machine was not involved in the manufacture. Shipping internationally to their inspection labs was too time consuming and metrology labs had given long lead times or onerous costs and limitations to support the expedited and complicated inspection required.
The Davis quality team jumped forward to support the customer with evening and weekend work to finalize the pre-test inspection of over a dozen assembled components inside of one week from start to finish. This was done in addition to supporting internal part flow and documentation. Upon return from wear testing Davis confirmed a controlled reinspection (same tools, same programs, same sequence) to support this one time urgent requirement for our customer in the same one week timeline.
What Ancillary Services could be useful to you?
Davis does not market or solicit for opportunities to provide ancillary support for our customers. These services generally are provided as we identify a skill we have that will help to solve an issue our customers are facing. As you think through the multitude of skill sets, experiences and capabilities that must be developed to build and run a successful manufacturing partner in aerospace, the possibilities of “pitching in” to solve a problem are relatively endless.
